Champions of Cyclosport Dinner – Battersea

Last week I was lucky enough to get on a table at the Champions of Cyclosport dinner in aid of Action Medical Research, thanks to Paul’s company sponsoring a table and a last minute drop-out. Took me all of 5 seconds to step up and fill the empty seat!

On our table were a couple of Paul’s colleagues and 3 prize-winning couples all into their cycling to varying degrees. Oh, and did I mention Geraint Thomas and his wife Sara?!

Racing to get there from work and enduring the slowest taxi ride known to man across London, I met Paul in the foyer with just enough time to grab a glass of fizz and go to the loos at the same time as Dani King 🙂 Too tongue-tied to make any sort of vaguely normal conversation, I settled for being able to claim a  synchronised pee and then made my way to our table. We had a lovely 3 course meal with plenty of wine, and then listened to the interviews with all the celebs, before the auction began. All a bit out of our price-range unfortunately, but it was fun watching others bidding on some amazing prizes for a good cause. The highlight for us was definitely Geraint’s bid on naming an Eddie Stobart truck; my suggestion of Trucky McTruckface was well-received but in the end lost to naming it after their dog! Time for a quick dance before we headed home, with a good night had by all.
